India in the Quota-free trade regime is poised for a major growth in the textile and apparel sector. It is
interesting to note that whereas the global annual population growth over the last decade has been
around 1.2%, the fibre growth during the said period touched 3.4%. The average per capita fibre
consumption rose very close to 12 kg.
Cotton, particularly in India dominated the textile manufacturing but being natural, poses a question how
long it can maintain the lead looking at the yield per hectare and the availability of
arable land for cultivation.
Food security and water consumption may restrict the cotton
cultivation. Practically all man made cellulose and synthetic fibres
have shown a double digit growth against that of natural fibres 2.2%
expansion. Manmade fibres, obviously is expected to play a more
and more meaningful role in the textile sector to balance the future
enhanced needs in apparel, household and technical textiles.
India is only second to china globally in the production of man
made fibres and the major consumption takes place in Surat as a
hub both in manufacturing and trade. Taking note of wide range
of applications of man made fibres, it is becoming amply clear that
polyester and viscose offer the best growth opportunities.
Inspite of this huge potential, there has not been major concerted efforts to
discuss, deliberate and promote this sector on national and international
platforms.
The International Conference on man made fiber textiles will primarily address the immediate needs to examine the current strength and explore the growth potential of man made fibre textiles sector in India. International & Indian experts
will deliberate the Developments in man made fibres, Product innovations,
Sustainability, Strategic Management, Technical Textiles and other key
issues.
The event is aimed at leading entrepreneurs, top executives, policy makes and others associated with business and trade of this sector
to enrich their vision to strategies for the future
