Bangladesh is one of the most exciting markets now, one of the most inspiring development stories of the past two decades and its anticipated graduation from the least developed country (LDC) status in 2026 presents a potent moment for American businesses to expand their ambitions in the nation, US-Bangladesh Business Council (USBBC) president Atul Keshap recently said.

Former US diplomat Keshap is the current president of the US-India Business Council.

The US Chamber of Commerce recently announced that Keshap will serve as USBBC president as part of his expanded role as senior vice president for South Asia of the chamber.

USBBC, under his leadership, will host the inaugural visit of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on May 2, media outlets in Bangladesh reported. The event will focus on bilateral economic cooperation and advance discussions on bilateral trade and smart growth.

USBBC was inaugurated by Prime Minister Hasina in 2021. It has 40 members and covers energy, power, digital economy, financial services and digital payments, insurance, healthcare, aerospace and defense, ridesharing, food and beverages, water and sustainability sectors.
