India’s export of garments in August was worth $1232.7 million, a 0.42 per cent fall over the figure of $1237.4 million in August 2021. However, the export figure for cotton yarn, fabrics, made-ups and handloom products in August 2022 was worth $881.86 million, a 32.32 per cent drop over the figure of $1302.91 million in August last year.India’s merchandise exports were worth $33 billion in August, almost similar to $33.38 billion in the same month last year. Such imports in the month were worth $61.68 billion—a rise of 36.78 per cent over $45.09 billion in August 2021.

The total trade deficit in August this year was worth $28.68 billion.
Value of non-petroleum exports in August was $28.09 billion, registering a decline of 2.22 per cent over similar exports worth $28.73 billion in August last year, an official release said.
