The collaboration, a year and a half in the making, coincides with the 50th anniversaries of Bruce Lee’s passing and his landmark film, ‘Enter the Dragon’, Under Armour and Curry Brand said in a joint press release.
The first release included the Curry 11 ‘Fire,’ Curry 1 FloTro Luxe ‘Earth,’ and the Curry SlipSpeed. The second release, aligned with the Lunar New Year on January 5, will introduce the Curry 11 ‘Wind,’ Curry 11 ‘Future Dragon,’ and a new Curry SlipSpeed variant, with APAC region availability from January 5, 2024. A special release is also planned for Stephen Curry’s birthday on March 14, with more details expected in early 2024.
The collection’s design, influenced by the four elements of matter—wind, water, earth, and fire—also incorporates Bruce Lee’s artwork, a lesser-known aspect of his talent. Each design meticulously preserves sketches from Lee’s movie scripts, with special attention to the original sketches’ textures and details.
Moreover, the shoes feature unique easter eggs celebrating Lee’s career, like the ‘Fire’ Curry 11’s dragon-inspired gel print and the ‘Future Dragon’ Curry 11’s shattered glass design, paying homage to a famous scene from ‘Enter the Dragon’.
The Curry Flow 8, released in 2020, first echoed the connection between the legacies of Stephen Curry and Bruce Lee with its ‘Flow Like Water’ quote, inspired by Lee’s philosophy.
