EU & euro area's industrial production up by 2% YoY in Nov 2022

In October 2022, industrial production decreased by 1.9 per cent in both the euro area and the EU. In the euro area in November 2022, compared with October 2022, production of intermediate goods grew by 0.8 per cent, and durable consumer goods by 0.4 per cent, while production of energy fell by 0.9 per cent and non-durable consumer goods by 1.3 per cent, according to estimates from Eurostat, the statistical office of the EU.

In the EU, production of intermediate goods grew by 0.7 per cent and energy by 0.1 per cent, while production of durable consumer goods fell by 0.2 per cent and non-durable consumer goods by 1.2 per cent.

Among member states for which data are available, the highest monthly increases were registered in Ireland (+6.4 per cent), Luxembourg (+5.0 per cent), and Malta (+4.6 per cent). The largest decreases were observed in Estonia (-3.7 per cent), Sweden (-3.3 per cent), and Croatia (-1.9 per cent).

In the euro area in November 2022, compared with November 2021, production of non-durable consumer goods rose by 6.3 per cent and durable consumer goods by 0.3 per cent, while production of intermediate goods fell by 3.3 per cent and energy by 10.7 per cent, Eurostat said.

In the EU, production of non-durable consumer goods rose by by 7.2 per cent, while production of durable consumer goods fell by 1.5 per cent, intermediate goods by 3.3 per cent, and energy by 10.2 per cent. Among member states for which data are available, the highest annual increases were registered in Ireland (+34.9 per cent), Malta (+15.5 per cent), and Denmark (+9.3 per cent). The largest decreases were observed in Estonia (-12.2 per cent), Slovakia (-10.7 per cent), and Romania (-4.0 per cent).
