The international forum is open to persons associated with all activities concerning the use and utilities of wild silkmoths. It will be hosted by the International Society for Wild Silkmoths (ISWS), Japan, in association with the Central Silk Board (CSB), ministry of textiles, Government of India. ISWS is an international body for the people associated for the development and utilisation of wild silkmoths across the globe.
The conference will host sessions on Tasar silkworm, Eri and Muga silkworm, other wild & domesticated silkworms, post-cocoon technology and gene technology. It will include presentation of scientific papers, posters covering the entire range of wild silk production and its application in various fields. It is an international platform for formation and dissemination of current and new scientific and adaptive knowledge in the field, including honing up the base-line skills.
An international exhibition on sericulture and silk industry will be organised parallel to the conference. It will give the visitors an opportunity to experience the varied type of sericulture practiced in India besides the ethnic silk products from different geographical regions of the country. The exhibition will have theme pavilion depicting the entire silk production of all 5 varieties of silk.
The proceedings of ICWS 2018 will bring together a open and equitable access–resource, the collective knowledge and erudition of the international wild silk community, displayed in the presence of an insightful global audience, which can be usefully translated into strategic tools for the advancement of wild silk and its enormous scope and applications in many countries.
