Sluggish trade in north India after Diwali, cotton yarn eases in Delhi

Cotton yarn markets in north India noted bearish trend on the very first day of trading after Diwali. Various markets recorded little trade as buyers and sellers remained absent. Cotton yarn prices fell by ₹10 per kg in Delhi, but there was no change in Ludhiana. Panipat market remained almost closed. The market is likely to take direction next week.
 
In Delhi, buyers and sellers were not keen for transaction, and cotton yarn prices eased down by ₹10 per kg for various counts and varieties. A trader from Delhi market told Fibre2Fashion, “The market will take direction in next week. Demand may remain weak but new crop arrival and decline in prices will encourage buyers to replenish their stock.” In the market, 30 count combed yarn was traded at ₹300-305 per kg (GST extra), 40 count combed at ₹330-335 per kg, 30 count carded at ₹280-285 per kg and 40 count carded at ₹315-320 per kg, according to Fibre2Fashion’s market insight tool TexPro.
 
In Ludhiana market, cotton yarn prices steadied at previous level. According to a trader from Ludhiana, overall trade remained very weak. Buyers and sellers will take interest after getting clear picture of the market. 30 count cotton combed yarn was sold at ₹300-310 per kg (GST inclusive), as per TexPro. 20 and 25 count combed yarn were traded at ₹290-300 per kg and ₹295-305 per kg respectively. The price of carded yarn of 30 count steadied at ₹275-285 per kg.
 
Panipat recycled yarn market did not see much trading activities today. According to the traders, mostly trading activities remained closed on first trading day after Diwali. Before the festival, 10s recycled yarn (white) was traded at ₹100-105 per kg (GST Extra). 10s recycled yarn (coloured - high quality) was traded at ₹110-115 per kg, 10s recycled yarn (coloured - low quality) at ₹80-85 per kg and 20s recycled PC coloured (high quality) at ₹115-120 per kg. 30 count recycled yarn was sold at ₹155-160 per kg. 10s optical yarn was priced at ₹120-125 per kg in the market. Comber prices were ruling at ₹120-125 per kg. The price of recycled polyester fibre (PET bottle fibre) was noted at ₹88-90 per kg.
 
In north India, cotton prices increased by ₹100-150 per maund of 37.2 kg. Cotton was traded at ₹6,525-6,550 in Punjab, ₹6,550-6,600 in Haryana and ₹6,625-6,650 per maund in upper Rajasthan. The prices were recorded at ₹68,000-69,000 per candy of 356 kg in lower Rajasthan. According to the traders, upward trend in cotton futures supported spot prices. However, overall trade remained thin amid limited arrival after Diwali. Cotton arrival of around 10,000-11,000 bales was noted in the region.
