As the world increasingly embraces sustainability and clean fashion, bluesign® proudly extends its rigorous standards to the global denim industry, aiming to harmonise this wardrobe essential with people and the planet. With a focus on responsible production, the first bluesign® certified denim will be unveiled next year, marking a significant milestone in sustainable fashion.
The Ripple Effect: A Collaborative Approach to Change
Madewell and Dondup’s leadership in this initiative is supported by numerous mills and laundries that have signed agreements with bluesign®, currently undergoing thorough assessments to meet the high standards required for certification. With completion expected within 4-5 months, two of these partners will exhibit their progress at Denim PV, offering the fashion world a preview of the future of responsible denim.
Expanding the Reach of bluesign Denim
While Dondup is leading the charge in Europe, brands such as Reformation and Madewell are also exploring their role in the bluesign® denim revolution. While Madewell is launching its certified denim later next year, Reformation is progressing quickly and we are optimistic about more to come.
A Cleaner, Greener Future
With a steadfast commitment to reducing environmental impact, bluesign® ensures that denim production adheres to the strictest safety and sustainability standards. By only using bluesign® APPROVED chemicals and certifying both mills and laundries, bluesign® guarantees that its denim is not just a fashion statement, but a commitment to a healthier people and planet.
Looking Ahead
As bluesign® continues to pave the way for sustainable fashion, the launch of the first certified denim products is just the beginning. Stay tuned as we expand globally, with more brands and partners joining the movement towards a greener, cleaner future in fashion. Join the system!
