Founded in 1983 in the Northwest, Richard Free began his vintage clothing business by sourcing stock from flea markets and church sales, selling items at Camden and Greenwich markets each weekend. The first permanent store opened in 1985 at Affleck’s Palace in Manchester, a hub for independent businesses. By 1989, a Liverpool shop was established on Slater Street, eventually finding its current home on Bold Street in 2014.
