The main stream trend for men's spring summer was the preppy trend. The item that best represents this trend is the polo; ranking as the best selling item 2 years in a row. For casual items, belts and jackets had been colorful, and the once prevalent damaged look has disappeared from the denim line up.
Just like the women's market, summer products remained quite idle. Although the over all sales for spring and summer had remained rather dull with no big hits, polo shirts had sold to wide variety of customers at select shops, stores and department stores. Those with emblems of sports brands were popular as usual, but bordered prints, stand up collars, and slim silhouettes were the most popular.
Other items such as vests, cleric shirts, and narrow ties explicate the popular trend towards the British style. From shirts to pants, men are going toward more clean cut image than before. Pants are also slimmer, and denims are raw, revealing highly to the young generation.
Gradually, the trend of traditional styles and marine styles had come into the market, but these styles also included the main line details of lace, frills and puff sleeves. The leading taste is stated as romantic & feminine in unison by many. But as these trends reveal, many brands, department stores and shops are relying heavily on designer collections and picking out the main trends from them and interpreting them in their own ways, making the ranking below not so much of a surprise.
