Gray may be the new black but its one color trend that youll want to becareful with. Not everyone looks good in gray, particularly if you have warmskin tones. It also has the tendency to wash you out after 40. So, be carefulof this often "blah" color, and make sure to pair it with one thatwill brighten a dreary day up like a beautiful shade of plum or red.

This fall it designers cant seem to make up their minds, so theyre doing boththe wide legged pant and the skinny pant. The wide leg pant looks good onalmost everyone, particularly women with bigger hips because the flare of thelegs will balance you out. Just make sure the top you choose to go with widelegged pants is not bulky, or youll look like a big block. Also, if you aregoing to add a jacket, it should be short and fitted; otherwise you lookoverwhelmed by fabric. If you are slim with long legs, then you can pull offthe skinny pant. Try pairing it with chunky knit sweater for a hip, sexy look.

Menswear is hot for fall. That means the vest is back and in high demand. Ifwant you to look stylish after 40 the vest can be a fun and trendy way toupdate your wardrobe. We just talked about pairing a bulky sweater with skinny pants. Fine, butbeware of bulky sweaters worn with anything else. Why? Oversized sweaters canread "m" as in matronly. Thats because bulky sweaters add bulk! Youdont need that especially if you are already busty or have a no so taughttummy like many of us over 40.
High-heeled Oxfords
High heeled Oxfords work well with the menswear look, or the Parisian look thatis so popular this fall (French tam, sweater, silky skirt). These shoes have aschoolgirl meets granny look about them and are difficult to pull off unlessyour style is more like Diane Keaton or Lauren Hutton. They work best withpants and pantsuits.
Patterned Opaque Hose
Dark, Opaque hose can do wonders for lengthening legs and pulling together anoutfit. This year, were seeing lots of oversized big patterns, from fishnets,to prints. Theyre a must for anyone willing to try another hot new trend --the skirt with ankle booties.
