International trade involves business transactions ofvarious types of products and services across the countries. Every country hasits own nomenclature for various products and this differs from country tocountry. And also each product has its own varieties or types depending uponthe nature of raw material, design, style, specifications etc. This leads tothe complication of understanding description goods under trade and also thesubsequent process of manufacturing and documentation. In order to overcomethis problem, a common nomenclature and coding for various products and theircategories has been developed which is called as Harmonized CommodityDescription and Coding System. This common names and code numbers are followedby various countries involved in international trade.
