About Geotextile
The concept of Geotextile originated from age-old use ofnatural fibres/ reeds/ leaves for strengthening pathways and controllingerosion in river banks/ sea-coasts. Application of Geotextiles manufacturedfrom man-made fibres dates back to 1953 in the Netherlands after invention ofpolymers and various petrochemical derivatives. Use of Geotextiles forimproving soil-performance is now an established concept.
What Is a Geotextile?
Geotextile can be defined as a class of technical textile, either in woven or innon-woven form, applied in or on soil to improve its engineering behavior &performance.
Types of Geotextiles
Geotextiles are basically of two types, considering thenature of their ingredient; they are: Man-made (synthetic) Geotextiles and NaturalGeotextiles.
