Hairs on the surface of a fabric tend to collect into little balls (Pills) and if the fibers are strong, these balls do not break off; this spoils the appearance of the fabrics. Low twist yarns are usually hairy and the hairs form sites for pills to form, especially when strong synthetic fibers are used. Type of fiber, fabric structure, fabric weight are the most important parameters which affect the pill formation. In this study, we investigated the fabric weight, fiber type, fabric structure, and color on the pilling properties. The statistical analysis proved that the fabric weight has a significant effect on the pill number/inch^2 for all tested fabrics. It was found that the loop length had the most significant influence on pills/inch^2. Single Jersey structures showed a number of pills/inch^2 more than pique structures. CoolMax 702 has pill number/inch^2 more than those from CoolMax 986.

Introduction
Certain areas of most garments are subjects to considerable abrasion during normal wear life. This will vary according to the type of garment and the person wearing it, but in general, the main points of fabric-to-fabric contact are collars, inside trouser legs, trouser bottoms, and inside sleeves abrading jacket or trouser sides. When the abrasion at any one point exceeds a certain level, the fibers are teased out from the body of the fabric and if they do not break off as abrasion small, fairly tight ball of fiber. Pilling is the formation of these balls of fiber (known as 'pills') which present an unsightly and unacceptable garment appearance.
