Introduction:
It may be said that there are two major areas of study in Clothing & Textile. These areas may be described as physical and social:
The physical area focuses on the inter-relationships among properties of fibres, yarns, and materials and garment/product design, assembly processes, and performance; human body measurements in relation to garment fit, design, processes, and performance; and evaluation and acceptability of apparel and materials.
The social area deals with the definition, classification, and meaning of dress within a cultural and historical context; theoretical perspectives; the social, cultural, historical, and economic functions of dress; dress as material culture; and apparel manufacturing, marketing, and distribution.
It is not wrong to say that the textile industry is very dynamic, globalized, and complex in nature. The clothing needs of people around the world are varied, and there are several factors which influence these needs. Thus, it is exciting to work in such a profession which involves such speckled needs of globalized consumers.
