Agricultural textiles for itsexcellent environmental resistance, mechanical properties, easy processabilityand durability characteristics can improve quantity, quality and safety ofagricultural products. Agro processing sector has experienced expansion duringlast 5 decades, starting with a handful of facilities which were mainlyoperating at domestic/cottage level. The article provides a summary of thegrowth history of the sector covering role of R&O, recent trends crop-wisestatus of agro processing industrialization and problems, export trends, SWOTanalysis and thrust areas for future for achieving greater role of this sectorin the national economy.
