EVALUATINGTHE ANTI ODOR PROPERTY OF HERBAL OILS BY FINISHED ON SELECTED REGENERATEDCELLULOSIC FABRICS
ABSTRACT:
Inthis current study three herbal oils of Cypress oil, Orange oil, Juniperberry oilwhich were screened for their anti odor efficiency by finishing on threefabrics Bamboo 100%, Tencel 100% and Bamboo/Tencel 50/50. The fabrics finishedwith these oils are assessed for anti odor property by organoleptic test. Theresult showed that the Cypress oil has a high interpreted value for all thethree fabrics. Among this Bamboo/ Tencel 50/50 fabric has an excellent antiodor property compared with other two fabrics. Due to the application of herbaloil it is very eco friendly.

Specialtyor functional textiles may be defined as the textile may be defined as thetextiles which assume an additional function over and above the conventionalpurpose. Specialty finishes means fragrance release, protective finish,skincare additives, insect repellent, deodorizing fragrance, cool finish and thermalinsulation finish, water proofing finish and UV stabilizers. Functionalfinishes represent the next generation of the finishing industry which maketextile materials to act by them.
