The end of fashion weeks in the four fashion capitals of London, New York, Paris, and Milan brings together a burst of fresh new trends for the spring/summer 2014. Menswear has also evolved to garner a lot of attention on the runways in the coming years. The men's fashion this year is about to get more flashy in the upcoming spring/summer season.

The look for spring summer 2014 is fun and laid back with a pop of colors. Menswear will see a lot of prints too next summer. Contrasting collars are going to be the most prominent detail in not just shirts but also T-shirts. Designers like John Galliano, Paul Smith, and Z Zegna showed jackets and shirts with strong distinct colored plackets and collars. The collars are slimmer just like the look with mandarin collars and becoming a favorite detail focused on by many designers. Raised collars were found in sporty shirts, blazers, and sweaters. Another element adopted by the likes of Alexander Wang and Victor and Rolf, was of piping's in jackets that stood out.

Last year's trend of dip-dyed shirts and T-shirts has lingered to half and half shirts and jackets in for the next spring summer. Dual-tone shirts with 70's loose contours were seen at many catwalks. The sleeves are going to be loose like bell, balloon, and kimono styled for the subsequent summer season along with slimmer cuffs. Elbow-length sleeves for the lazy lad look ruled the runways of 2014 and will be seen on knits, shirts, and sweaters for summer.

Another highlight was interesting details done with patch pockets on shirts. Geometric patterns, stripes, bright-colored patch pockets are an ongoing trend from the last season still remaining popular. An addition to this fad is the use of leather patches in men's wardrobes in small patches on pockets, plackets, lapels, and collars. Different shades of leather yokes like black, brown, and even blue created a refreshing sight at the runways.

White remains the color which is synonymous with the spring summer collections year after year. Men's formal suits are going all white next season. To get the white monochrome look right, contrasting textures were used in the three-piece garments by designers. A white cotton shirt with a linen suit and a silk jacket with a white T-shirt are ways to balance the look and break the monotony.

Bombing the spring summer 2014 yet again will be bomber jackets from this season. The only difference is that they are slimmer this time. The New York Fashion Week endorsed this trend in a big way. The pants are ankle length with rolled-up bottoms for the casual look. High-rise chinos are going to become a staple with stylish men in summer 2014.

Adding a dramatic touch to menswear pleasantly are prints. Printed pants, shorts, and jackets in stripes, scales, and floral were seen on the runway in the fashion weeks. Color blocking in shirts and T-shirts will give the sporty edge to men's fashion for the spring/summer 2014.

The spring summer 2014 has the following four distinct looks that one can experiment with:

1. Spice Trails: Materials like silk, jacquard, sequins, and metallic are used. The prints are ethnic in nature with strong influences from India and Morocco. Handwork, embroidery, and embellishments will be the details in this look. Patterned jackets, sheer shirts, and metallic pants will be seen in menswear in the spring of 2014.

2. Provincial Picnic: This look is all about prints and colors. Red, minty blue, yellow, nude, and dirty rose will be the colors of the next season. Floral, stripes, soft plaids, gingham checks, and fruit prints will be popular. Fabrics like raw denim, cotton, poplin, white linen, chiffon, and chambray are likely to be in trend for the next summer. Printed chinos and patterned jackets will be the clothes of style for menswear in 2014.

3. Mod World: The third look is a mix of pop art meets retro. Bold and bright colored tops with solid colored bottoms in fabrics like floral laces, metallic, organza, leather, sateen, and eye-let will be the choice for the young and daring men next summer. Mod coats, cropped pants, and boxy tops are important items to posses for stylish males.

4. Glam Grunge: Biker jackets and embellished sweaters will be a staple of this look. Minty blue, shades of wine, grey, steel blue, and green cast are likely to be the color palette for this look. The patterns for glam grunge are patterned texts, moody floral, camouflage, and plaids. Stonewashed denims and leather still remain with the inherent grunge look from the 90's.

The spring summer of 2014 is definitely moving ahead in terms of style, colors, and patterns for the menswear collection. The colors are bright, prints are bold, and styles more experimental. Whether it is the all white suit for a formal look or printed floral shorts for a casual look, the men's fashion is embracing new dimensions with unique and innovative details.
