Established in 1989, SP Apparels is a leading manufacturer and exporter of garments to the Indian and foreign markets. The company operates under two divisions: garments (for children), and retail division. Under the garments division, the company has been, over the past two decades, a pioneer and a leader in the manufacture and export of knitted garments for infants and children in India and foreign markets.
Under retail segment, the company is the exclusive licensee for the manufacture and distribution of the Hong Kong-based global major Crocodile's range of branded products in India since 2015. The group that started as a partnership firm, went on to set up its own manufacturing facility in Neelambur in Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu. The company also set up its first embroidery facility in nearby Thekkalur in 2003, and also a flagship factory at Avinashi with full garment processing facilities in 2004.
Further, the company set up dyeing facilities, and made strategic investments in several companies, including offshore one in UK, and Crocodile in India. Leading the team is P Sundararajan as chairman and managing director since 2005, ably supported by S Latha, the company's executive director and S Chenduran as its whole-time director.
As a part of backward integration SP Apparels ventured into spinning during 2007 by taking over an existing unit at Vazhapadi (near Salem, Tamil Nadu). After successfully running for a decade, expansion programme was planned in 2018-19 to more than double the output from 2,160 tons/annum to 5,400 tons/annum in the same premises.
After a rigorous evaluation process Lakshmi Machine Works (LMW) became a clear winner catering to 100 per cent of SP Apparels' expansion requirement. This includes LMW's latest and most successful Compact Systems - SPINPACT, High Speed Combers LK69 and latest Breaker and Finisher Drawframes LDB3 and LDF3 respectively. The project has all the automation built in viz Link-winders and Bobbin Transportation Systems. Spearheading this expansion drive is ONR Amar Bapu, COO (Spinning and Processing ) and his team supported by a team of LMW and Voltas experts.
LMW seeks to continue its fruitful and mutually enriching partnership with SP Apparels, as both companies go further in today's digital age.
