Make FashionCircular frames guidelines for jeans

The Ellen MacArthur Foundation's Make Fashion Circularinitiative has framed guidelines for producing jeans which set out minimumrequirements on garment durability, material health, recyclability, andtraceability. The guidelines are a joint effort by more than 40 denim expertsfrom academia, brands, retailers, manufacturers, collectors, sorters, and NGOs.The Jeans Redesign Guidelines will work to ensure jeans last longer, can easilybe recycled, and are made in a way that is better for the environment and thehealth of garment workers. The guidelines build on existing efforts to improvejeans production, including the open source guide created following C&A andFashion For Good's joint initiative to develop C2C Gold Certified jeans.

Germany starts'green button' seal for textile items

Germany in September started a Grüner Knopt (green buttonin its German meaning) certification in which it would support all textileitems that follow certain social and environmental criteria. The federalministry for economic cooperation and development (BMZ) will be in charge ofthis certification and will evaluate companies and its products. A pilot testwill be executed until the end of 2020. The certification accounts for 26requisites related to social and environmental responsibility.
