Dr. Chattopadhyay is a Senior Reader in the Department of Textile Chemistry of the M. S. University of Baroda. He did his Ph.D under the supervision of Prof. R. B. Chavan of the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. He completed his Masters from IIT, Delhi and Bachelor in Technology from the University of Calcutta.

He has coordinated many Government sponsored projects. He has more than 40 papers published in various journals to his credit. He is also a reviewer of some refereed textile journals. He has guided more than 30 PG and UG students’ research projects. Doctoral researches under his supervision have been progressing in his current areas of interest viz. nanotechnology in textiles and eco-friendly textile chemical processing.
