Dr. June Ngo Siok Kheng acquired her Bachelor of Arts in Textile Design majoring in Knitted Textiles from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), Australia. Later she received Master of Science degree in Textile Design majoring in Printed Textiles from the Philadelphia University in United States, from which she was honored with the President's Award in 1997 for being the best graduate student. June obtained her PhD in 2008 from the Science University of Malaysia. Subsequently, she was appointed Director of Textile Design and Production at Yayasan Tuanku Nur Zahirah (from April 2008 - April 2012), which produces high quality contemporary songket for broader usage. She was also formerly the Deputy Dean (Postgraduate and Research) from 2010 to 2012. Currently she is working as a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Applied and Creative Arts, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS).
June has been carrying out various researches that include printing with natural dyes as well as producing manuals for yarn dyeing, and authored various technical papers that vary from textile design to implementing science and technology to increase quality and productivity of songket weaving.
