Dr. L. Rathakrishnan is Professor at Gandhigram Rural University, Gandhigram. He has specialized in Rural Industries and Management, Human Resource Management, Environment and Resource Economics. He has published 57 papers in the above areas in referred journals and edited books. To his credit, he has edited two books, organized national seminars, workshop and symposium. He is rank holder at Gandhigram Rural University, Gandhigram and earned first Ph.D. degree from the Department of Economics, Pondicherry University, Pondicherry.

After serving for two years at French Institute of Pondicherry as an Economist he had subsequently worked at Pondicherry University for more than seven years, teaching economics and environmental studies. He has also served in ODA-NABARD projects, UGC and ICSSR projects in varies capacities. He is also serving as external examiner for various Universities of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Pondicherry.
