Dr. Reena Aggarwal is an Associate Professor with the department of Textile Design at NIFT, Mumbai. She is a doctorate in textile science and specialises in traditional and craft-based textiles. Her academic background includes a bachelor’s degree in home science and a master’s degree in clothing and textiles from Banasthali University. Passion for design brought her to join NIFT, Mumbai in the year 2008. She has earlier taught in Banasthali University, Delhi University and has been an academician now for 25 years. She specialises in sustainable textile materials, innovative textile manufacturing processes, textile printing, surface embellishment, traditional textiles, crafts of India, textile finishes and textile testing. She has contributed significantly to the field through her research on crafts, textiles and recycling initiatives. She is committed to advancing textile education and fostering sustainable practices within the education system. Through her career, she has worked extensively on projects related to natural dyes and craft-based textiles. She has more than 75 publications and paper presentations in the area of traditional textiles, sustainable living, crafts, green textiles, herbal textiles and natural fibres in international and national journals and conferences.
