A post graduate degree holder in economic development, and a Diploma holder in Business Marketing and Production Management, Renato Palmi runs a specialist research and development consultancy called “The ReDress Consultancy - South Africa”, that focuses on Pan African clothing, textiles and fashion industry. Popularly known as the “South African insider” for his criticisms about economic regeneration issues, Palmi also monitors and evaluates provincial Fashion Week events. He covers the fashion sector for both local and international media, and serves as a mediator between his country’s fashion designers, and international fashion weeks. Along with the consultancy, Palmi is the Marketing and Project Director of Linea Academy; i.e. based in Durban and is one of South Africa's most prestigious fashion educational institutions.
Palmi shares his versatile knowledge and experience with the design students and offers lectures at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He has also assisted aspirants who wanted to enter the fashion world. He is a prolific writer as well, and has authored a comprehensive book about the role of South African fashion designers and fashion promotion in the apparel value chain.
