Switzerland-based Benninger is a leading manufacturer of technologically advanced textile finishing and tyre cord solutions for the global textile, chemical fibre, tyre and conveyor belt manufacturers. Area sales director Marcel Moser discusses the technologies exhibited at ITMA 2019 in Barcelona.
Please tell us in brief about your company.
Benninger AG was started 160 years ago and we have mainly been involved in the business of wet finishing. In the last few decades, the challenge has been to reduce resources, mainly water, energy and chemical consumption, while processing fabrics. We have always tried to meet these challenges by introducing new technologies.
What new technologies did you showcase at ITMA?
We showed a mix of new and existing technologies at ITMA. Our masterpiece is the CPB dyeing machine for knitwear and woven fabrics, which is the only salt-free cold dyeing process available in the market. The machine has become more compact, which makes operating the machine easier. Salt-free dyeing without the use of energy is only possible using the cold pad batch (CPB) dyeing process. The heart of the CPB system is the DYPAD. Benninger is the only textile machine manufacturer with the know-how of the original S-roller technology, which is synonymous with an even dyeing result across the entire fabric width. Then, we have the Trikoflex drum washing machine that is available up to a working width of 5,400 mm as against 3,200 mm earlier. There are some applications in home textiles and technical textiles, where the extra width will prove helpful. Another is the Tempacta washing steamer for knitted fabrics that offers a dramatic decrease or around 50-65 per cent in water consumption.
How many ITMAs has Benninger participated in?
As per my understanding, Benninger must have been taking part in ITMA since its inception.
What is your opinion of ITMA when compared to other such exhibitions?
ITMA is a global exhibition and very important for our company. Our efforts in research and development of four years are shown at ITMA as we also try to present new technologies. However, even exhibitions like ITMA Asia now receive international buyers. (HO)
