With headquarters in Europe, (Rijeka, Croatia), Biocrystal Technologies’ vision is to be a global designer and a supplier of innovative technology, based on natural resources, applicable to products for everyday use, which has been proven to improve the quality of life of all living beings. The company is globally present through its agents in China, Brazil, India, Russia, and the US, and works with bedding industry companies all over the world. In an interview with Fibre2Fashion, Biocrystal’s Innovator & Founder Vesna Pavletic discusses the uniqueness of Biocrystal as a sleep enhancer.
How did you come up with the idea of Biocrystal?
Some years ago, during the time when we were company mostly for direct sales, we were looking for a technology that will be different from everything else on the market, and which will be efficient enough to provide what customers need most, and that is quality, deep and relaxing sleep. In a search that was not so short, we met lot of experts who knew very well all the good and beneficial properties and effects of crystals on humans. In collaboration with them, after almost nine years of research and testing, we innovated a special and unique formula of a mixture of crystals (with special number of crystals, special quantity and ratio), which proved to be extremely effective on the human body. Testing products with built-in Biocrystal technology has confirmed its strong relaxing effect on users.
What is the size of the market for sleep enhancing products? At what rate is it growing?
The market for sleep enhancing products is huge, due to the growing need of people to rest, relax and release all the influences left on them by the fast-paced lifestyle, lack of time to sleep and stress. The sleep enhancing products market is projected to grow to a whopping $118 billion by 2030.
What kinds of crystals are used to make Biocrystal fabrics?
Biocrystal is a mixture of as many as 16 types of different crystals. What makes this blend unique is the formula of the exact amount and their ratio and percentage mix.
Is the technology patented? Can you give us a brief about the same?
The technology is not patented for several reasons, but the unique quantity and ratio formula is a trade secret that is registered and known to only two people in the company.
Which are your major markets for Biocrystal and Biocrystal fabrics?
Markets for unique products such as Biocrystal are expanding almost daily as potential customers are located around the world. Currently, our strongest markets are America and Asia. Till now we have worked mostly within the bedding industry and market and from last year, thanks to our business partners from Pakistan, we are also focused to the textile, fashion and apparel industry.
What kind of wear and tear can products treated with Biocrystal sustain? How long lasting are the effects?
This largely depends on the quality of the fabric being treated, and of course on the application process used in the installation of Biocrystal. As for Biocrystal, since these are 100 per cent natural crystals that have not been specially treated in any way other than being crushed and mixed, their duration and the duration of their effect is almost unlimited.
What makes Biocrystal fabric different from others available in the market?
The already mentioned tested and proven relaxation effect is manifested by a proven effect on physiological parameters – slowing restlessness and rapid heart rate, regulating the depth and speed of breathing, relaxing tense muscles, regulating skin temperature and conductivity. These are all indicators of the tension and possible stress that Biocrystal is so effective and beneficial for. All those parameters, tested and proven, make Biocrystal unique on the worldwide market.
What has been your growth story for the last two years? What are your expectations for the next two?
The past two years have been marked by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has slowed down all business processes and development. But the pandemic has also brought to the fore the need for products that will alleviate the effects of stress caused by the rapid spread of disease, high deaths, job losses, etc. Thus, the pandemic created the conditions for high demand for highly effective products that can reduce stress and give people back the opportunity to rest well and get a good night’s sleep. This is exactly the premise of future stronger growth of Biocrystal.
What kind of innovations and products are you working on?
We are developing yarn; we are in the stage of the masterbatch and looking for a right partner for producing a yarn for us. This opens a lot of new possibilities for apparel and textile industry. We are also working on one completely new technology which is secret at the moment.
Which brands/companies have you collaborated with until now?
At the moment, we are working with lot of brands worldwide like FXI in the US, Yatas in Turkey, Purteco from Estonia, Aramis from Romania, Olmo from Italy, and Representationes from Spain.
