Speaking to Fibre2Fashion, Founder Pari Chaudhary discusses integrating traditional Indian styles with modern fashion.

What are the current trends in the fashion industry, and how do you see these trends evolving over the next few years?

Current trends include sustainable fashion, the revival of traditional crafts, and the fusion of casual and formal wear. These trends are likely to evolve with a stronger emphasis on eco-friendly practices and the integration of technology in fashion, such as virtual try-ons and AI-driven design processes.

Sustainability has become a significant focus in fashion. What do you think are the biggest challenges and opportunities in implementing sustainable practices in the fashion industry?

The biggest challenges are sourcing sustainable materials and ensuring ethical labour practices. However, these challenges also offer opportunities to innovate and lead the industry towards responsible practices, enhancing brand loyalty and appeal. Investing in sustainable practices can differentiate brands in a crowded market.

How is technology shaping the future of fashion, particularly in terms of design, production, and customer engagement?

Technology is revolutionising fashion through 3D printing, AI-driven design, and virtual try-ons. It enhances the customer experience, makes production more efficient, allows greater customisation, and reduces waste, aligning with sustainable practices. Technology also enables more personalised shopping experiences, increasing customer engagement and satisfaction.

What are the key challenges and considerations for managing a global supply chain in the fashion industry, especially in light of recent global disruptions?

Key challenges include ensuring supply chain transparency, sustainability, and adaptability to disruptions. Building resilient and flexible supply chains is crucial for mitigating risks and ensuring continuity. Strengthening relationships with suppliers and investing in technology to track and manage supply chain operations can help navigate these challenges.

What inspired the creation of Bunaai, and how has the brand evolved since its inception?

Bunaai was inspired by a passion for tradition and clothes that resonate with contemporary Indian women while staying rooted in our rich cultural heritage. Since its inception in 2016, Bunaai has grown from a small website into a renowned brand known for its distinctive style and quality. We have expanded our product line, gained a loyal customer base, and received numerous accolades, including the E-commerce Tech Women Entrepreneur Award from BW Businessworld.

How does Bunaai integrate traditional Indian styles with modern fashion trends in its designs?

Bunaai integrates traditional Indian styles with modern fashion by blending conventional crafts like block printing and intricate embroidery with contemporary cuts. Each ensemble, from suit sets to kurta and co-ord sets, showcases impeccable craftsmanship and attention to detail, creating unique pieces that appeal to modern fashion-conscious women while preserving cultural heritage.

Could you elaborate on the significance of block prints in your collections and what makes them unique?

Block prints are central to Bunaai’s collections, representing the rich cultural heritage of India. Each piece is unique due to the meticulous handcrafting process. We combine block printing with contemporary cuts and intricate embroideries, enhancing the appeal of our attire and creating timeless yet modern pieces that stand out in the market.

What criteria do you use when selecting fabrics for your collections?

We select fabrics based on quality, comfort, and sustainability. Our aim is to choose materials that enhance the natural beauty of our designs, ensuring they are durable, eco-friendly, and reflect our commitment to responsible fashion. This careful selection process ensures that each garment not only looks beautiful but also feels comfortable to wear.

From ethnic wear to nightwear, Bunaai offers a diverse range of products. How does the brand ensure quality and variety in its collections?

Bunaai ensures quality through rigorous control processes and close collaboration with skilled artisans. We maintain variety by continuously innovating and expanding our product lines, including magnificent suit sets, radiant kurta sets, summer maxi dresses and stylish co-ord sets. This approach allows us to offer fresh and exciting designs that cater to a wide range of customer preferences.

Can you walk us through the creative process of designing a new collection from conception to final product?

The creative process starts with trend research and inspiration gathering. We then move on to sketching and fabric selection, followed by creating prototypes. These prototypes are refined based on feedback and undergo quality checks. Finally, the designs are produced and introduced to the market, ensuring they meet our high standards of quality and style.

What measures do you take to ensure sustainability in your production processes?

We ensure sustainability by using eco-friendly materials, minimising waste, and employing traditional handcrafting techniques. We also support fair trade practices, collaborating with local artisans to promote ethical production. This commitment to sustainability reflects our dedication to responsible fashion and preserving the environment.

Could you tell us more about your collaboration with local artisans and how it impacts your products?

Our collaboration with local artisans is pivotal. It preserves traditional crafts and empowers artisans by providing fair wages and sustainable livelihoods. This partnership enhances the authenticity and cultural richness of our products, making each piece unique and meaningful. The artisans’ skills and dedication ensure that every garment reflects the highest standards of craftsmanship.

How do you connect with global customers and cater to their diverse fashion preferences?

We connect with our global customers through a robust online presence, engaging social media content, and international shipping. We listen to customer feedback and adapt our designs to cater to diverse fashion preferences worldwide. Our e-commerce platform’s overhaul has enhanced user experience, resulting in increased online sales and customer satisfaction.

What are the future plans for Bunaai? Are there any upcoming projects or expansions that you can share with us?
