How big is the embroidery machine market in India in terms of its type, demand and trend? What has been your growth in the last 2 years? What steps can be taken to boost innovation in this sector?
Currently, there are about 100,000-odd embroidery machines found in India and there is a good demand for high quality, high speed, and chain stitch machines.
The upcoming trend of the embroidery machines will be shuttle hook machines, flat bed Schiffli machines, high speed flat embroidery machines, and single pressure foot machines.
Despite being the most expensive Chinese brand, we have experienced regular growth since 2006. For last two years, customers have sold out their old machines and bought good quality machines. We have had 200 per cent growth in the last two years. Kolkata is one market we plan to venture into and expect to grow by 5 per cent in the next three years.
Indian taxation policies need to be made simpler in terms of manufacturing and innovation of the embroidery machines as Chinese machines have matured a lot with experience and are very much competitive with Japanese, Korean and German machines.
