As a specialist in Indian Denim sector, how would you describe its market size, potential and trends?
Denim is the
category where India
has the small base on fabric front compared to international market. Regarding
the apparel, India
has lot of avenues yet to explore in washes as well as capacities. This means
since we are at the score 10, we have a total 100 to achieve; in that case we
have tremendous opportunities in both fabric and apparel sector for denims. And
in the international market as our denim fabric is very well accepted as far
as quality and value addition is concerned, so it has just to reach out one
more step towards garmenting and buyer would love to land in India for denim
garment outsourcing.
Europe
and US are the highest importer, and import is increasing by 8 to 10 %
every year which has to be 30 to 40 % aggressively.
Indian Consumers love to wear those denims and clothes which their favorite actor or actress wears. So in this context it is a blessing for sector that India has got a fantastic Bollywood industry that sets the trend and there is a huge fan following. Nowadays, stretch denims are moving very fast due to their (stretch- to- fit) comfort quality.
