Ramaswami was also a member of the committee of administration-Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI).
Ramaswami died on his way to a private hospital in Adyar, he collapsed after being given anaesthesia for a dental procedure, according to a leading daily.
Ramaswami, aged 63, is survived by wife Valli Manikam Ramaswami and daughter Vishala Ramaswami. Manikam has served on a number of boards in the textile industry. Since 1976, he was associated with the Loyal Textile Mills, his family business. Established in 1946, Loyal Textiles Mills is one of India's leading manufacturers and exporters of fabric, yarn, garments, and fibres.
In an interview with Fibre2Fashion in February 2015, Manikam had shared his views on the steps taken by the government to boost textile exports whilst developing the domestic textile market. (RR)
