Whilst still in the infancy of an already stellar career, the number seven has held huge significance in Saka’s fledgling personal and professional life. He was just seven years old when he joined Arsenal’s prestigious academy and was handed his first team debut for the club at 17, whilst wearing the #87 shirt.
Since then, Saka has continued to make the number his own, being awarded Arsenal’s #7 shirt to follow in the footsteps of a host of club legends before him, continuously making history and recently setting a new club record of 83 consecutive Premier League appearances. On the international stage, he continues to make huge strides, having recently been crowned England Men's Player of the Year for a second successive year, the company said in a press release.
‘Seven Edition’ is the culmination of Saka’s journey to date and represents the importance this number has played through every stage of his progression.
“Wearing the number 7 shirt for my club was always something I dreamt about and it has gone on to have real significance at various points throughout my career. Being able to now celebrate my journey so far in my own boot is incredibly special for me, and I can’t wait to step out on the pitch in the boots,” Bukayo said.
The Furon v7 ‘Seven Edition’ arrives in a bright white colourway with red detailing, with the boot featuring several printed symbols that hold great significance to him. Included in this are the number seven, Arsenal’s iconic cannon and references to his ‘Little Chilli’ nickname.
The unique design of the boot combines with the lightweight and dynamic Furon v7 - the boot’s seventh iteration and Saka’s boot of choice.
“Saka is one of the brightest stars in world football, and we’re incredibly proud to create a boot that is so personal and unique to his journey on-and-off the pitch,” Andrew McGarty, head of global sports marketing at New Balance, said.
