New Balance also announces British rapper Dave as its newest brand ambassador, joining its growing roster of original talent. Since the release of his critically acclaimed debut album Psychodrama in 2019, the 25-year-old has been celebrated for his bold lyricism and subversive musical style.
Alongside the announcement, Dave stars in New Balance’s latest campaign for the launch of the 1000, where the narrative includes a street race scenario and captures the versatility of the style, exploring the threads between culture, style and individuality.
The wider campaign was also shot by esteemed photographer Ewen Spencer, who has been at the forefront of capturing youth subcultures in the UK since the late-1990s and accompanying film with creative direction by Elliot Elder and George Muncy from the award-winning studio Uncanny.
The reissue of the New Balance 1000 pays homage to its futuristic, turn-of-the-millennium roots while seamlessly blending into the modern sneaker landscape; with its unmistakable identity, the 1000 is decidedly non-traditional. Setting it apart from the crowd, the 1000 comes with a streamlined silhouette, prominent overlay panels, segmented, sculpted sole unit and nylon eyelets.
Redefining everyday style in its initial release, the 1000 reissue retains its futuristic silver metallic overlay, with mesh that sits on top of a full ABZORB heel and forefoot cushioning. Its midfoot features a stability web for lightweight comfort and support, while the “N” logo features a raised rubber TPU for added durability. To provide a secure, locked-in fit, the 1000’s collar features an internal foam heel pad.
