Speaking as the chief guest at the Validation Workshop on Final Draft Study Reports on Market Access, Comparative Advantage, and Export Diversification and Upscaling the RMG Sector, the principal secretary also highlighted the importance of timely reforms and good governance in creating a business-friendly environment to prepare for the post-LDC graduation period.
Tofazzal Hossain also underscored the vast opportunities for diversification and urged apparel industry leaders to concentrate on diversifying their product offerings while also exploring new markets.
Special guests at the event included senior secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Tapan Kanti Ghosh and president of Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA), Mohammad Ali Khokon.
Addressing the event Tapan Kanti Ghosh stressed the need for Bangladesh to explore alternatives to cash incentives to prepare the country’s exporters for the post-LDC period while BTMA Mohammad Ali Khokon expressed that Bangladeshi apparel manufacturers could transition into the multi-fibre arena by ensuring duty-free access to all fibres.
