In a meeting held recently, commissioner Mohammad Lutfar Rahman engaged with BGMEA representatives, headed by BGMEA first vice president Syed Nazrul Islam.
The BGMEA delegation comprised vice president Rakibul Alam Chowdhury, director MD M Mohiuddin Chowdhury, AM Shafiul Karim (Khokon), M Ehsanul Haque, alongside newly elected directors Mohammad Mucha, Amjad Hossain Chowdhury, Mostafa Sarwar Riyad, Mohammad Rakib Al Nasser, Gazi Md Shahidullah, and Md Abshar Hossain, as well as former director Hasanuzzaman Chowdhury.
The discussion was also attended by Customs Bond Commissionerate joint commissioners Kamonashish, Mizanur Rahman, and Tapan Chandra Dey, which centred on the necessity of expediting bond-related tasks for the garment sector even as BGMEA representatives underscored that prioritising these activities within the Bond Commissionerate would significantly alleviate industry challenges.
BGMEA’s plea emphasised the critical role of efficient bond operations in sustaining the garment industry’s functionality. By prioritising these activities, the Commissionerate can effectively support the sector in navigating prevailing challenges.
The collaborative effort between BGMEA and the Customs Bond Commissionerate reflects a proactive approach to address industry needs, ultimately contributing to the resilience and growth of Bangladesh’s garment manufacturing sector.
