The first integrated apparel manufacturing park in Tamil Nadu’s Erode district, called ‘Gobi Apparel Park, will come up at Kolapalur village in Gobichettipalayam. With a cost of ₹ 106.58 crore, it is expected to provide jobs to 7,000. Funded by the textiles ministry under the state Scheme for Integrated Textile Parks (SITP), it can host 12 companies.

The park would have effluent and sewage treatment plants, uninterrupted power supply and wide roads, apart from a quality testing centre, a skill development centre and accommodation facility for 3,000 workers.
There will also be a sports ground, an old age home and a community hall. Around 2,500 people would be trained in the park every year. (DS)
