Two months after Spinnova launched its first global commercial product with Adidas, more Spinnova products are introduced to stores: Arket becomes the first H&M group brand to release a Spinnova product commercially. The product is a rendition of Arket’s signature men’s overshirt in a classic light grey and made from a soft blend of 18 per cent Spinnova are and 82 per cent more sustainably sourced cotton. Minimally detailed and cut with extra room, Arket’s modern overshirt can be layered over shirts or knits as an adaptable alternative to tailored jackets. Limited number of the shirt will be available online and in selected stores now, Spinnova said in a press release.
Spinnova is a textile fibre made of sustainably sourced wood, without harmful chemicals. It produces fewer CO2 emissions and uses 99 per cent less water than conventional cotton production and contains zero microplastics.
“Spinnova is on a mission to transform the raw material base of the global textile industry by providing radically sustainable and high-performance textile materials. Seeing Arket use Spinnova in their signature, timeless design makes us very proud of this collaboration,” Spinnova’s CEO and co-founder, Janne Poranen, said in a media statement.
“It is important to us at Arket to source new materials, and we are proud to adopt Spinnova fibre in our selective material portfolio. We are excited to provide consumers with this innovative product made with Spinnova,” Pernilla Wohlfahrt, managing director at Arket, said in a statement.
Spinnova’s first commercial-scale factory is expected to be completed in Finland at the end of this year. Together with its investor and joint venture partner Suzano, Spinnova aims to scale its global production to one million tonnes of sustainable fibre annually within the next 10-12 years – providing global fashion brands and retailers with a versatile and sustainable fibre at scale.
