In contrast, imports showed an upward trend during the same period in 2022 compared to 2021, with a 17.92 per cent increase from $102.452 million in January-July 2021. Turkiye ranked as the sixth-largest apparel supplier to Austria, following Germany, Poland, Italy, the Netherlands, and China in January-July 2023, according to trade data from Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool TexPro.
Turkiye's market share accounted for 3.26 per cent of Austria's total imports, which amounted to $2,815.083 million during the period. The top five suppliers collectively held approximately 72 per cent of the market share.
Trade data also revealed that Turkiye's share in Austria's total apparel imports increased this year compared to 2022. In the previous year, Austria imported apparel worth $196.124 million from Turkiye, constituting 2.79 per cent of its total imports of $7.023 billion. Turkiye ranked seventh in apparel imports, with Bangladesh ahead with a 3.84 per cent market share.
Austria's apparel imports from Turkiye increased by 10.12 per cent in 2022 compared to 2021 when the trade volume was $178.101 million. Prior to that, it stood at $153.029 million in 2020 and $143.027 million in 2019, as per TexPro.
