Category-wise, knitwear exports rose 17.83 per cent to $5.875 billion in the first four months of fiscal 2018-19, as against exports of $4.986 billion during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal, as per the data.
Likewise, exports of woven apparel increased 22.61 per cent to $5.457 billion during the period under review, compared to exports of $4.451 billion during July-October 2017-18.
Woven and knitted apparel and clothing accessories’ exports together accounted for 83 per cent of $13.651 billion worth of total exports made by Bangladesh during the July-October quarter.
In the last fiscal ending June 30, 2018, garment exports from Bangladesh crossed the $30-billion mark and surpassed the target by 1.51 per cent. For the current fiscal, the Government of Bangladesh has set readymade garments export target at $32.689 billion. (PC)
