Bangladesh’s Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) recently approved in principle a proposal for signing development agreement and land lease agreement between Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) and the Bangladesh SEZ Ltd for developing a special economic zone at Araihazar sub-district in Narayanganj district exclusively for Japanese investors.

Bangladesh SEZ Ltd is a joint venture of BEZA and Japan’s Sumitomo Corporation.

The SEZ will be a milestone for the country and a lot more projects like this will be witnessed in the future, finance minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said, while being optimistic about his country receiving more foreign direct investment (FDI) in the near future, according to Bangla media reports.
