While inaugurating the recent three-day Bangladesh Leather Footwear and Leathergoods International Sourcing Show (BLLISS)-2017 in Dhaka via a videoconference from her official residence on November 16, she urged foreign investors and buyers to invest more in the country’s leather sector and buy more Bangladeshi leather products.
The government plans to continue the 15 per cent cash incentive for leather exports for the next five years, she said.
The event was organised by the commerce ministry and the Leathergoods and Footwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association of Bangladesh (LFMEAB) to attract more investment in the sector, according to media reports in the country.
Fifteen countries, including China, India, Vietnam and Thailand, are participating in the event. (DS)
