Dhaka has sought Washington’s support for its readymade garment (RMG) sector badly hit by the COVID-19 outbreak. Foreign minister AK Abdul Momen conveyed this recently in a meeting with US ambassador to Bangladesh Earl Mille, who delivered a letter of US secretary of state Mike Pompeo to him. The United States is Bangladesh’s single largest RMG export destination.

In the letter, Pompeo appreciated Bangladesh's readiness to support COVID-19 response supply chains and the country’s assistance in repatriation of US citizens, according to Bangla media reports.

Pompeo also assured Bangladesh of working together to combat COVID-19 and of continued cooperation during this crisis.
