The Sustainable Apparel and Textiles Conference, organised by the Innovation Forum, is scheduled to take place in Amsterdam on April 23-24, 2024. Among the conference’s notable speakers is Marsha Dickson, president and co-founder of Better Buying.

Better Buying Institute is a US-based firm that reimagines supply chain sustainability, leveraging data to strengthen supplier-buyer relationships, and improve purchasing practices that drive profitability while protecting workers and the environment. The company’s programmes provide retailers, brands, suppliers, and industry with data-driven insights to help drive lasting improvements in global supply chains.

This two-day business conference, which anticipates over 350 attendees, 60-plus speakers, and more than 30 practical sessions, is dedicated to exploring ways in which brands can align their practices with the evolving legislative landscape and escalating stakeholder expectations. It is specifically designed to provide attendees with the knowledge and tools necessary to develop net-zero strategies, transform supply chains, scale circularity, engage consumers effectively, and drive impactful social changes, Innovation Forum said on its website.

Key themes to be addressed at the conference include responsible sourcing and ethical trade; climate action and nature-positive production; factory engagement and manufacturing; circularity, sustainable design, and material innovation; and consumer trust and expectations.

The conference features a comprehensive agenda aimed at reshaping the future of sustainable fashion. Key discussions will focus on defining 'sustainable fashion', assessing brands' progress towards net-zero targets, and evolving purchasing practices for better social standards and resilient supply chains to name a few.

The interplay between politics, trade, and human rights in ethical supply, the role of designers in creating circular and sustainable fashion, and the sustainability of alternative business models like rental, resale, and repair are other critical points of discussion. The conference will also delve into engaging consumers in sustainable practices and verifying green claims to ensure credibility and authenticity.
