The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has requested a Tk54-crore ($4.5-million) soft loan from the Bangladesh Bank to support 39 garment factories facing financial difficulties that are now struggling to maintain full-scale production due to disruptions caused by the recent labour unrest.In a letter to the country’s finance adviser, BGMEA outlined these concerns and urged the central bank to assess the situation and facilitate the required loan.
