According to Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool TexPro, Cambodia ranked as the ninth-largest apparel supplier to France in the first four months of the current year. This ranking remained unchanged from the same period last year, when Cambodia's share was 3.63 per cent of total apparel imports, which were valued at $8.008 billion. French apparel imports from Cambodia have remained relatively stable over the past several years. Cambodia has consistently held the position of the ninth-largest supplier since 2019, with the exception of 2022, when it briefly improved to eighth place.
In 2023, French apparel imports totalled $24.745 billion, with imports from Cambodia valued at $905.782 million, representing 3.66 per cent of the total. The peak was in 2022, when France's apparel imports reached $26.222 billion, with $979.927 million coming from Cambodia, accounting for 3.74 per cent of the total. During this year, Cambodia improved its rank to eighth place, according to TexPro.
French garment imports decreased to $20.836 billion in 2020 from $22.907 billion in 2019. However, they recovered to $23.429 billion in 2021 and $26.222 billion in 2022. Imports from Cambodia similarly declined to $776.774 million in 2020 from $877.602 million in 2019, but then rebounded to $835.590 million in 2021 and $979.927 million in 2022. Cambodia’s share showed a declining trend, noted at 3.83 per cent in 2019, 3.73 per cent in 2020, and 3.57 per cent in 2021.
