The inbound shipment dipped to $1,015.830 million in 2020 from $1,296.343 million of 2019 before rebounding again in 2021. Total imports for 2022 are expected to be around $1,800 million, according to Fibre2Fashion’s market insight tool TexPro.
The monthly shipment remained volatile in the last couple of months. It rose to $228.414 million in August 2022 from $145.775 million in the preceding month. The imports were noted at $168.131 million in September and $165.568 million in October 2022. Canada had imported apparel worth $145.775 million in July, $147.423 million in June and $113.926 million in May 2022.
Bangladesh was the second largest supplier of apparel to Canada in 2021, accounting for 13.38 per cent of the total apparel imports of the latter, which amounted to $9.6 billion, as per TexPro.
