Chinese company to invest $5.36 mn in Bangladesh's BEPZA EZ

Chinese company DC Industry (Bangladesh) Co Ltd will invest $5.36 million to set up a ‘Bag & Wallet’ manufacturing industry in Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) Economic Zone (EZ) located at Mirsharai, Chattogram. BEPZA signed an agreement with the company at BEPZA Complex, Dhaka.

Ashraful Kabir, member (investment promotion) of BEPZA and Han Chenguang, managing director of DC Industry (Bangladesh) Co Ltd signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations. This foreign owned company will produce 2.5 million pieces of handbags, 1.5 million pieces of backpacks and 1 million pieces of wallets annually. As many as 2,990 Bangladeshi nationals will get employment opportunities in this company, BEPZA said on its website.

A total of 31 companies, including DC Industry (Bangladesh), have signed agreements to invest in the BEPZA EZ with a total proposed investment of $711 million.
