Danish development minister Ulla Tørnæs has earmarked 7.5 million kroner to continue assisting Bangladesh in improving equality and working conditions in the textile sector. The collaboration by the Danish labour oversight association Arbejdstilsynet assists in more sustainable growth in the sector that accounts for over 80 per cent of the country’s exports.

Jobs and decent working conditions are important for gender equality, a newspaper in Denmark quoted Tørnæs as saying.

The project has been running for three years focused on improving conditions in an industry that produces much of the apparel sold in Denmark. (DS)
