In a bid to minimise fashion waste, the UK-based platform for luxury fashion Farfetch has partnered with major brands to launch pre-order service for menswear and womenswear. The service will also provide customers with early access to new products by brands such as Nanushka, Balenciaga, Khaite, Off-White, Palm Angels, Dolce and Gabbana, Casablanca, Nicholas Kirkwood, and Oscar de la Renta.

New styles will be made available for pre-order monthly and will be shipped to customers about four weeks after purchase.

The company aims to develop a pre-production proposition and help brands manage their inventory while minimising waste in the fashion industry, global vice president of Farfetch’s private client division Jamie Freed said in a statement.

“When we think about what this will evolve into for the longer term, we really think of it as an industry solution, for us to be able to offer a way in which to create a more conscious way of shopping so that our brands can better match supply with real consumer demand,” Freed added.
