US-based manufacturer of clothing tags Hi-Tech Printing & Labeling has said that fashion brands should include details about the causes they support on clothing tags and labels. This can remind consumers of the brand’s messages during the shopping process and each time they wear the item, increasing the likelihood of them returning for future purchases.

Many companies only focus on advertising their brand’s vision via traditional methods such as on their website, on signage around physical stores and through social media posts, the company said in a press release.

The company further said that the durability of fabric tags is just as important as the quality of the clothing material. For the tags and labels to be effective at advertising a brand long term, they need to remain intact and legible through multiple cycles in a washing machine and dryer.

Another factor for retailers and designers to consider is that even though there might be multiple items in the same collection, different types of tags and labels may be required for individual pieces to ensure maximum comfort.

While stronger woven labels pair well with looser-fitting outerwear, items that are more likely to come into direct contact with the skin, such as t-shirts, should have labels that are soft and comfortable to wear, like cotton tags. This decreases the chances that customers will cut off the clothing tags out of discomfort or irritation, the label manufacturer added.
